Baltimore Intergroup Council of Alcoholics Anonymous

Community Service

The Intergroup Council informs the community about AA through three committees: the Committee on Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC), the Public Information Committee, and the Speakers Committee. The CPC Committee provides information about AA's purpose and function to those who have contact with alcoholics through their professions, including physicians, nurses, clergy members, lawyers, social workers, and those working in the field of alcoholism.

The Public Information Committee distributes AA pamphlets at health fairs and handles all interaction with the press. The Speakers Committee answers requests for public speakers at schools, health fairs, and other programs. In an effort to reach out to the community, these committees maintain a unified approach in providing crucial public information while adhering to the Twelve Traditions and guidelines of AA World Services.
